The Black Leech fly is a must-have pattern that has stood the test of time. Known for its simplicity and effectiveness, this classic leech fly pattern works in almost any condition and is easy to fish for anglers of all experience levels.

This fly excels when stripped slowly on large lakes for trout, using long pauses to imitate a swimming leech. It can also be dead-drifted through deep runs on large western rivers, where trout often hold near the bottom. When covering water is essential, the Black Leech performs extremely well on a tight-line swing, helping anglers locate active fish.

Highly versatile and durable, the Black Leech is effective for trout and bass, making it a reliable choice for fly boxes year-round. Whether you’re stocking a fly shop or ordering for guiding use, this pattern delivers consistent results.
