The Kaufmann’s Stimulator is a robust, high-floating dry fly designed to imitate adult attractor stoneflies and large terrestrials. Its full-bodied construction and prominent hackle allow it to ride high on turbulent water while maintaining stability. The tapered body provides a natural silhouette and adds visual appeal to struggling prey representation. CDC or feathered wings enhance flotation and simulate natural wing movement. Lightweight materials allow precise casting and effective drift. The fly holds its shape through repeated use, even in fast currents. Overall, the pattern emphasizes surface presence, durability, and predator provocation.
