The Soft Egg Fly is a realistic synthetic yarn imitation that trout, steelhead, salmon, and even suckers cannot resist. Tied in a perfect egg shape with a contrasting dot, it provides a lifelike look and soft texture that fish commit to aggressively.

This versatile egg fly works best dead-drifted in the current, but it also excels as a point fly in a multi-nymph rig. Since eggs vary in size and color, keeping a selection of shades on hand is ideal — orange and peach are particularly effective. Whether targeting Great Lakes steelhead, stocked trout, or opportunistic spring rainbows, the Soft Egg Fly is a must-have for any fly box.
