The WD-40 Black Nymph Fly is one of the most effective patterns ever developed for selective trout feeding on small Baetis, Trico, and Midge nymphs. Originally designed by Mark Engler, this versatile fly has earned its place in every angler’s fly box thanks to its lifelike profile, subtle movement, and unmatched performance in tough conditions.

Featuring a slim, tapered body and sparse dubbing, the WD-40 perfectly imitates emerging mayflies and midges in low, clear water. The black variant is especially deadly in shaded or deep runs where natural insects appear darker against the light.

This fly excels in both tailwaters and freestone streams, producing strikes year-round. Whether you fish it solo, as a dropper below a dry fly, or as part of a Euro nymphing rig, the WD-40 consistently fools even the most pressured trout.

Available in sizes 18, 20, 22, and 24, tied to professional standards with durable materials for longevity and reliability on the water.
